Daylighting is the act of removing streams from underground pipes and culverts, restoring some of the form and function of historic streams.In searching around, I discovered that "daylighting" has other meanings as well, all more or less understandable in contexts. Some samples:
- In hydroengineering: Daylighting is the uncovering and exposing of underground utilities and pipelines to the daylight.
- Lighting design: The Active Daylighting™ System uses solar-powered sun-tracking mirrors to redirect sunlight into a reflective light well and onto a diffusing lens.
